Charter High School to open in Eagle Mountain
Excitement abounds, as the first charter high school in Eagle Mountain prepares to open its doors. Rockwell Charter High School will welcome students in August of 2008. The creation of this school will have students breathing a sigh of relief as they give up their commutes into Lehi and are able to attend a brand new school. While free like other public schools, Rockwell will provide a college-preparatory education along with smaller class sizes and more individual attention. Student activities and other traditional high school events and clubs are in the planning stage. All future students are invited to participate in this process. Attention Bikers Young and Old
A bicycle park is being considered for The Ranches at Eagle Mountain. An attraction like none other in the state, this unique park will benefit bikers and non-bikers alike by bringing positive publicity and exposure to the community. The park will include three different slope style trails, a jump park, skill development area, and an up hill trail. The park will feature North Shore style wood obstacles, table-top jumps, drop-offs, and teeter totters. Trail difficulty will vary to challenge riders of all abilities, while the jump park and skill development area will provide opportunities for even the youngest riders to hone their technique and build confidence.
The Ranches H.O.A. Planning Committee and Board have given preliminary approval for this non-motorized bicycle park. The Eagle Mountain City administrator has given the proposal a favorable response as well. Several companies have expressed a willingness to help and much of the funding is already in place. Volunteers are currently needed to help plan, draw, and organize the project. Next spring additional help will be needed for construction and park maintenance. A trail advocacy group is now being formed to assist with this and future trail building efforts in the community. If you are interested in joining this effort or have any questions, please call Darin at 420-1340, or email Cougar at coughall@hotmail.com.
